Tree Removal
Kiama blocks are often narrow, sloped and sitting close to the neighbours, so the crane and rigging work matters more than the felling. Norfolk pines, figs and old eucalypts near the headland are dismantled in sections and lowered over rooflines rather than dropped. We assess the root plate first, because sandy soil near the coast holds a leaning tree far less securely than it looks from the driveway.

Tree Pruning
The southerlies that come across the headland tend to break limbs rather than topple whole trees, which leaves hangers sitting over driveways and carports. We answer the phone through the night, isolate the hazard on arrival, and take the load down under rigging so nothing lands on the roof. Kiama Downs and the streets behind the harbour see the bulk of these callouts after a big blow.
Stump Grinding
Most pruning here is about balancing outlook against tree health. Lifting canopies off tiled roofs, clearing gutters of overhanging limbs, and selective thinning so wind moves through rather than pushing against a dense crown. We never top a tree to open a view, because the regrowth that follows is weaker and heavier than what was cut. Crown reduction gets a similar result and the tree keeps its structure.

Land Clearing
Removals near the coast leave stumps in soft ground that keeps sprouting long after the tree is gone. We grind them well below grade so lawn, pavers or a new garden bed can go straight over the top. Compact machines fit through the side gates common on Kiama town blocks, and grindings can be raked back into the hole or carted away with the rest of the debris.
Vegetation Care
Behind town the blocks open up into paddock and scrub, and clearing is a staged job rather than a single day. Timber comes down first, undergrowth is mulched on site, and stumps come out last so machinery has clean ground to work from. We flag protected species and council setbacks before anything is cut, and hand the block over graded and ready for the builder or the fencing contractor.
